We have exciting news!!! Not only
are there new Section B Welsh Ponies in the USA -- but they are
on their way to our farm RIGHT NOW!!!
We are delighted to welcome our
2010 imports, who we expect to be seeing at the farm this coming
Wednesday! Talk about waiting impatiently!
We welcome *Holyoake Tamzin, a 3
year old mare who is a full sister to our beloved
*Holyoake Sonique.
Sonique is one of our most favorite and best producing mares,
and she has been a pure magic cross with
*Wedderlie Mardi Gras
LOM, giving us Champions
Clanfair Martina and
Clanfair Malibu
Barbie, as well as Clanfair Red Robin who
is unshown so far. So when we discovered that Tamzin and
Sonique's dam had been sold from the Holyoake Stud -- and Tamzin
was the last of the cross.... well, we just knew she had to come
here!

*Holyoake Tamzin (Holyoake Fire Sprite x Millcroft
Rosette), pictured above at age 2, is in foal to Heaton Romeo,
an Eyarth Rio son who broke Fayre Oaks Sale records selling for
£10,000 in
2005. We are very much looking forward to this foal next spring,
but we also are extremely excited to have another beautiful mare
from the Holyoake Stud! Our thanks to Pauline at the Holyoake
Stud for making it so easy for Tamzin to come to our farm, and
for keeping her for us until she was ready to ship!
Having met him in
the flesh, we are big fans of the Waxwing Stud's Moelview Mohawk
(sire of our
*Wedderlie Marmaduke), who has crossed so well with
the Eyarth Beau Geste daughters at the Waxwing Stud. We had had
an eye open in hopes that Mohawk's older dam might have another
filly, and this year she did! We jumped at the chance to add
Moelview Anasazi, a full sister to Mohawk and a number of other
very successful ponies, to our breeding program. In the years
ahead, we look forward to weaving her pedigree with Mardi's. We
think this is going to yield some spectacular results!

*Moelview Anasazi (Eyarth Tomahawk x Nannau Charm),
pictured above at 3 days old. Thank you to Rich and Jane at the
Moelview Stud for allowing us to purchase this very special
filly!
As anyone who has owned horses or
ponies already knows.... sometimes things just don't go as
planned. We imported
*Mynach Manilla last year, and
she arrived hale and hearty, but unexpectedly had kidney failure
(for still unknown reasons) and had to spend several weeks at
the university vet hospital last December/January, just a few
weeks after her arrival. Unfortunately, just 2 days into her
stay at the university, as a consequence of the kidney issues...
she foundered. She is now doing well, and well on the road to
full recovery..... but this all meant that there was no foal
from Manilla. We had hoped to bring her over in foal to Moelview
Mohawk, but that was not to be.
So..... we
introduce *Waxwing Arietta -- by Moelview Mohawk and out of
Manilla's full sister, Mynach Arcadia. Arietta is the same cross
that Manilla "would" have had, and we are in love with her
already! It helps that we met her in person on our recent visits
to the Waxwing Stud! Here is a photo I took of Arietta and her
dam, Mynach Arcadia (Eyarth Beau Geste x Mynach Mayflower):

*Waxwing Arietta (Moelview Mohawk x Mynach Arcadia by
Eyarth Beau Geste) at home at the Waxwing Stud in September
2010. Our thanks to our friends Tom and David for inviting us
for such great visits, and also for allowing us to bring such
excellent ponies to the US! We treasure our Waxwing and Mynach
ponies and look forward to them making their mark here in the
years to come.
As I mentioned above, we were
fortunate to be able to travel to Scotland again in September.
It is a magical place, and should you ever have the chance to
travel there, we highly recommend it! All this time later, we
are still talking about it every day! It really made a mark on
us.
Our trip included two visits to
the Waxwing Stud, which is like visiting Heaven for the pony
enthusiast! So many beautiful ponies in a spectacular setting,
and Tom and David are the most wonderful hosts you can imagine.
We can't say enough good things about our fantastic visits
there!
Here is a photo I took of Eyarth
Beau Geste out at pasture with his mares at Waxwing:

Beau is the sire of our
*Wedderlie Mardi Gras LOM,
*Waxwing Martini,
*Waxwing Curtain
Call,
*Waxwing Garland,
*Mynach Miss Daisy and
*Mynach Manilla.
My mother
captured this beautiful shot of Moelview Mohawk:

Mohawk is the sire of our
*Wedderlie Marmaduke and
*Waxwing Arietta, as well as a full brother to *Moelview Anasazi.
Here is the
gorgeous view from near the top of Waxwing, looking out over
Beau's pasture with his mares and foals:

On our trip, we
also had the pleasure of spending a day at Wedderlie Farm with
John and Marion Tilson! We had such a great time touring the
farm (it's positively spectacular), viewing cattle, sheep and
visiting with the ponies and with John and Marion! It's an
active and absolutely beautiful place! They raise pedigreed
Aberdeen Angus cattle, and the most beautiful sheep we've ever
laid eyes on! Thank you John and Marion for such a great
time!
Here are some scenes from
Wedderlie Farm:

Wedderlie Mariella, yearling, the last foal of Wedderlie
Marianne, by Moelview Mohawk.

So......
now we wait for the ponies to arrive on Wednesday! We will be
deep in preparations for Thanksgiving Day, but check our our
farm Facebook page for the very
latest and most up to date news on when they arrive! We'd love
to have you as a fan, if you aren't already!

This past month has been an
absolute WHIRLWIND around here! We have recently returned from a
trip to Scotland (more on that soon), and then left for the
Brookside Welsh Show and American Nationals the very next day
after we flew home. Exhausting, to say the least!
We had fantastic shows in
California, however!
At
the Brookside Welsh Show,
Clanfair Martina (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM x
*Holyoake Sonique) was Champion
for the Pleasure Driving division! Martina was driven by Megan
Burtness.

On Thursday, the in-hand day for
the Brookside Welsh Show, we were thrilled to have
Clanfair Signature
(*Wedderlie Mardi Gras
LOM x
*Holyoake Sucura) win Supreme Champion for owner
Megan Burtness!

Clanfair All About Me (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM x
*Holyoake Anastasia LOM), age
4, was Reserve Champion Mare under both judges.

Friday brought us in-hand classes
for the American National and Pacific Coast Classic. We were
delighted to see
Goldhills In Vogue (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM x
Goldhills Imagine That by
*Telynau Jacobite) win Reserve Grand Champion under the American
National judge! Great result for a yearling! Congratulations to
new owner Alissa Kirtlan!

Under the Pacific Coast Classic
judge, we were delighted that our 2 year old
*Waxwing Martini
(Eyarth Beau Geste x Wedderlie Martina) won Champion Filly!

Then,
Clanfair Martina (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM x
*Holyoake Sonique) won her big
3 & 4 year old mares class, won Champion Mare, Grand Champion
Section B, and then SUPREME CHAMPION!!!! It was a great day!!!

For the American Nationals,
Martina went on to win Reserve Champion for the Pleasure Driving
division (over 12.2 hands)! She also won a beautiful cones class
for the Carriage Driving division. Thank you to Megan Burtness
for the excellent job with Martina.

Clanfair All About Me (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM x
*Holyoake Anastasia LOM), who
made her driving debut in August, and is still quite green,
thrilled us by winning Reserve Champion in the American
Nationals Carriage Driving division, and tying for Reserve in
Pleasure Driving (which she lost in the drive off when Gary
pushed her a littttttle too far, and she broke into a canter in
the "trot on"!).

All in all, it was a wonderful
show for us!
Here is one
of my favorite pictures -- a photo of the 3/4 sisters,
Clanfair All About Me
(left) and Clanfair
Martina (right).

They are both 4 year olds. Martina
is in foal for 2011, bred to *Mynach Mystical.
Siblings Goldhills Makebelieve
Princess LOM (age 4) and Goldhills Master Bronze (age 3), both
by *Wedderlie Mardi
Gras LOM, have been having a fantastic show season!
Goldhills Makebelieve Princess LOM (AKA "Tiara"), won the
following at the Pacific Coast Classic:
Reserve Champion Pleasure Driving Division
Champion Carriage Driving Division
Champion Youth English Pleasure Division
Champion Youth Western Pleasure Division
Champion Adult English Pleasure Division
Champion Adult Western Pleasure Division
For the American Nationals, she won:
Champion Pleasure Driving division
Champion Carriage Driving
division
and Champion Youth Western Pleasure division.

"Tiara" is owned and shown by
Carrie MacWhorter who has done a wonderful job with her, as you
can see from the amazing results above!
Goldhills Master Bronze LOM, also
by *Wedderlie Mardi
Gras LOM, age 3 (who completed the points for his
Legion of Merit at the youngest age ever for any Welsh Pony or
Cob), also had an extremely
successful show outing, winning Adult English Pleasure division
Champion and Adult Western Pleasure Division champion, as well
as earning blue ribbons in halter!

Bronze is also owned and shown by
Carrie MacWhorter.
*Holyoake
Copper-Field, who we imported as a foal, and sold to
Kim Boyd at Sterling Creek Welsh last fall, also had a great
show outing! Copper was pinned Reserve Supreme Champion at the
Pacific Coast Classic, behind his "niece",
Clanfair Martina. He also has
been accumulating MANY excellent wins all season long!
Congratulations to Kim Boyd, who has done a beautiful job with
him! It has been very satisfying for us to see him go on and be
so successful for his new owner.

You could join our satisfied clients above!
We have a beautiful assortment of ponies for sale at the moment
that could put YOU in the winner's circle!

We have just had two of the most
memorable shows we have EVER had!!!
It started with the OWPS Gold show
up in Albany, OR. Our ponies won all of their classes under the
British judge, Catrin Bigley of the Llanarth Stud!
Ms. Bigley placed all of our
ponies and our breeding as her top choices for every Section B
breeding class -- which meant that in the Grand Champion class,
7 out of 8 ponies were OUR breeding! It was an amazing thing to
look out over the lineup and have that realization. Under the
second judge, we fared VERY well also with 6 out of 8 being our
breeding in the Grand Champion lineup!
4 year old mare,
Clanfair All About Me (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM x
*Holyoake Anastasia
LOM) was pinned first in her huge 3 and 4 year
old mares class, Champion mare, and then as Grand Champion! She
was shown by Anna, age 13.

2 year old
*Waxwing Martini won her large
filly class, then was pinned Reserve Grand Champion behind MeMe!
She was also Overall Youngstock Champion!

*Wedderlie Marmaduke, age 2,
won his large (and very competitive) colt class under both
judges, and went on to be pinned Reserve Grand Champion behind
Goldhills Master Bronze, a 3 year old stallion by
*Wedderlie Mardi Gras,
and then on to be Reserve Supreme Champion behind Bronze! We
were THRILLED!

Supreme Champion Goldhills Master Bronze (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras x Goldhills Mystique), age 3, owned and
shown by Carrie MacWhorter:

We had a great time at the show,
and it was very gratifying to be so successful. Ms. Bigley said
some very kind words about our ponies, which was the icing on
the cake!
Then came the
SOWPCA Gold show in Medford, Oregon -- which fell during the
hottest days of the year we've had so far! It was 105 degrees on
the day before the show! It wasn't quite that hot the other
days, but it was certainly hot enough to feel like we were
melting!
The show got off
to a wonderful start when
Clanfair Martina (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras x
*Holyoake Sonique) made her
debut in harness, driven by Megan Burtness. Martina had had just
a few drives prior to the show, so this was all brand new for
her, but she made us proud by being Carriage Driving division
Champion!!! She looked beautiful and clearly loves her new job!

Then came the breeding classes on
Saturday. We had brought Clanfair Autograph (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM x
*Holyoake Anastasia LOM - full
brother to All About Me) in hopes of making a good dent in the
remaining 35 points he needed to finish Mardi's Sire Legion of
Merit. Auto won first and second in a big gelding class (Clanfair
Frostfire won the other first and second!) and got us
very close! But THEN!! Then,
Clanfair Signature won his
class under both judges, and finished HIS 300 points --- thus
finishing the points for
*Wedderlie Mardi Gras's SIRE
LEGION OF MERIT! It was VERY exciting!!!
But it kept going!!!
The largest class of the whole
show was the 3 & 4 year old Section B mares class. We were quite
well represented with three of our own ponies in the class, plus
a forth mare who is also by Mardi Gras. They certainly all did
us proud, every one finishing in the top class placings, but
Clanfair Martina
(who happens to be my most favorite of any I've ever bred) was
pinned first under BOTH judges! She then went on to be double
Champion Mare, DOUBLE GRAND CHAMPION and then Supreme
Champion!!! It was a HUGE moment for me, as I adore this mare!

I don't really think this photo does her justice, and I sadly
did not get any pictures of her FLOATING around the ring! She
looked absolutely amazing in motion!
I was pretty much on cloud 9 at
that point -- with Mardi's Sire LOM being finished and my
favorite pony winning Double Grand and Supreme!!!
We celebrated with cake after the
show day ended! Thank you to everyone who shared our big moment
with us!

It was certainly the most
memorable show I've ever had. We've won tons of Supremes over
the years -- and every one has been special -- but I have to
say. Martina's Supreme was extra sweet.
Martina capped off her winning
ways by winning Pleasure Driving division Champion and Carriage
Driving Reserve division Champion the next day!

We had a fun photo shoot of the
five ponies making up the "legs" of *Wedderlie Mardi Gras's sire
LOM. Here is my favorite picture of the shoot (Click
to enlarge):

June 12, 2010
And just like THAT! Foaling season
is over! That was QUICK!
We had only bred one mare (*Russetwood
Romance) for 2010, so originally thought we would
just be having one foal. But over the course of the year, we
ended up with *Rhoson Bon Bon and I purchased
*Waxwing Curtain
Call -- both of whom
were in foal and both fabulous additions to our "Mare Power
Lineup"!
Curtain Call's
filly has stolen our hearts. She's definitely a keeper. What a
sweet little thing she is. We have named her Clanfair Caledonia.
You can go to her page to see her photo gallery:

Then came our one and only foal by
*Wedderlie Mardi Gras
for 2010. His dam is
*Russetwood Romance, a
daughter of Rotherwood State Occasion, who topped the UK sire
ratings a whopping TEN times! He was a "super sire" and this
mare is just a fabulous example of her pedigree. Her dam's side
is no less stellar, as she is out of the beautiful Royal Welsh
winner, Eyarth Gigi. Gigi is a full sister to the very famous
Eyarth Zsa Zsa, who is the dam of such greats as Eyarth Rio and
Eyarth Beau Geste.
This colt is absolutely
exceptional in every way. We could not be more pleased with him
-- well, unless he had been a filly! But due to the fact that he
*is* a colt, he is offered for sale to the discriminating buyer.
He is everything we love in the perfect Section B, with
exquisite breed type, a gorgeous head and neck, beautiful
compact body with a fantastic hip, and excellent limbs. He has
enormous potential as a show stallion, and later as a sire. Talk
about bred in the purple!
Click here for his photo gallery.

Then..... along came
*Rhoson Bon
Bon's foal, born early on Thursday morning! Bon Bon is a good
sized imported mare, standing at almost 13.2 hands. She is a champion in
both halter and performance. Bon Bon's sire is Royal Welsh
Supreme Champion Rhoson Shem, who is also a many time performance
Champion at the largest and most important UK shows. Shem's sire is Eyarth Sama, (by the great Royal Welsh
Champion Carwed Charmer), who was exported to Australia as stud
stallion for the Weston Park Stud.
Bon Bon's foal is by Bridlewood
Welsh's Goldhills Most Wanted, a son of Gayfields Call the Cops.
This colt is an interesting mix of imported and domestic
breeding, and is offered for sale for $2500. We expect him to be
a top of the line medium pony.
Click here for his photo gallery.

And just like that.... foaling
season has come to an end. It happened all at once, in just a
few short days, even though the mare's due dates were spread out
over a month's time! Curtain Call went just a few days past her
due date, and Romance and Bon Bon went early!
We now look ahead to our plans for
2011. We have confirmed
Clanfair Martina in foal to
*Mynach Mystical (Eyarth Beau Geste x Mynach Mimosa by Moelview
Mohawk). We are very excited about the way this pedigree will be
woven, and what it should produce. Mystical is a full sister to
our *Mynach Miss Daisy, and to Mynach Miss Prim - multi Royal
Welsh Champion. Martina continues to win both in halter and
performance, shown under saddle by Megan Burtness. We are very
proud of her accomplishments in the show ring, and are really
looking forward to Mardi's first "grand-foal"!
We have also bred
*Holyoake Sonique
and Fantasia
to *Wedderlie Mardi
Gras, and have used
*Eyarth Eragon on
*Holyoake Anastasia
LOM and
*Waxwing Garland. I can't wait to see the foals out
of these mares!
June 6, 2010
Well! That wasn't what I expected
when I went out to feed this morning!
I peeked in at Curtain Call and
her new filly, and then peaked in at
*Russetwood Romance -- and
discovered she had foaled this morning!!!
She has had a delightful chestnut
colt, with a blaze that is wild on one side and conservative on
the other. He has three stockings and the most exquisite head
and neck.
He is our one
and only foal sired by *Wedderlie Mardi Gras for 2010. His dam,
Romance, is an absolutely beautiful imported mare, by the great
Rotherwood State Occasion and out of Eyarth Gigi, who has been a
successful producer for the Cadlan Valley Stud and is a full
sister to the great Eyarth Zsa Zsa. Talk about bred in the
purple! This colt's pedigree is unbeatable!
Here he is at a couple of hours
old:

Sire and
dam:

June 4, 2010
Our first foal of the year is
here!!!!!! She arrived last night at the respectable time of 11
pm.
We are delighted to
welcome a stunning buckskin filly with a blaze and four
stockings! She is out of our fabulous new mare
*Waxwing Curtain
Call (Eyarth Beau Geste x Mynach Pinafore) and by
High Hopes Nitro (*Hilin Peredur x Fferm Gwenffrwd Beginner's
Luck). You can
click here to see Nitro's pedigree.
Nitro has now been gelded and is headed off to be part of a CDE
pair, so this beautiful filly is one of a kind.
We are pleased to
introduce Clanfair Caledonia! Here she is at 13 hours old:

We will have more (and better) pictures in a few
days! In the meantime, she is just a little doll and we are
quite smitten!!
Last weekend was the
Western Nationals in Walla Walla, WA, and we were pleased that
our homebred colt Clanfair Signature was double Champion Colt,
and our own *Wedderlie Marmaduke was double Reserve Champion
colt. Nicely done, boys!

*Wedderlie Marmaduke, age 2
The beautiful filly
*Waxwing Martini was Western
National Champion filly, and reserve champion under the other
judge. It was a nice show.
Next up on foaling is
*Russetwood Romance, who is in
foal to *Wedderlie
Mardi Gras. We can't wait to see this foal!!!
And if you haven't already -- please join us on
Facebook! There are lots of updates and pictures regularly
posted there on our farm page there.

We have all kinds of news!
April brought us a new face here
-- a FABULOUS mare that we had wished was ours since she was a
foal! We are absolutely thrilled to welcome
*Waxwing Curtain
Call! Curtain is a daughter of Royal Welsh Champion
Eyarth Beau Geste and out of silver medal winning mare, Mynach
Pinafore, a Moelview Mohawk daughter! Curtain is in foal to a
*Hilin Peredur son and due this month. We can hardly wait!

Our thanks to the Bates' at High Hopes Farm for offering us this
spectacular mare!
April
also brought our first show of the season. We didn't feel quite
ready, but we had a nice time.
*Wedderlie Marmaduke won his
fantastic class of colts under both judges, and then went on to
be Reserve Grand Champion under both judges as well. A nice way
to start his show career. We have added many new photos to
his page.

The fabulous
*Waxwing Martini wasn't quite
as appreciated by the judges as Marmaduke, but she did well in a
good fillies class, winning double seconds, and at least one
reserve Champion Filly. It wasn't quite what we hoped for, but
she showed well and I still thought she was the prettiest pony
at the show!

I have totally blanked out on the
halter placings for
Clanfair All About Me, but MeMe and Anna had a really
nice performance debut together, winning Reserve Champion for
the youth Western Pleasure division!

We've had a whirlwind here with
spring and breeding season in full swing, and then I was away
for a family emergency. I've been home a few days now, and we
are trying to get caught up.
After much thought, I've added two
wonderful ponies to the
sales list.
Clanfair Champagne
& Roses and
Clanfair Queen Anne's Lace --
both 3 year old daughters of
*Wedderlie Mardi Gras.
We've also made video for the
above mentioned fillies, as well as sale ponies
*Skellorn Mystical
and Clanfair
Frostfire. You can see them by clicking on the
individual pages.
We've
been working on getting mares bred for 2011, and will have news
to share as they are confirmed in foal!
March 20, 2010
Happy Spring, everyone!!! It was
an absolutely beautiful day here, once the low clouds wore off!
The ponies are really enjoying the good weather with long naps
in the sunshine, munching green grass and leaving a carpet of
hair wherever they roll!
We are having a "Spring is Here" sale on ponies! We have a
beautiful selection, whether you are looking for top quality
breeding stock or performance ponies, we have something for
everyone. We have a hauler coming here 2nd-ish week in April,
who can provide terrific rates across the country. Shoot me an
e-mail if you're interested in
a pony (or two!) and need a transport quote. Click here to go to
our Sales Page!
I wandered around the farm today
and took some pictures of the ponies and scenery. The ponies are
still hairy and rumpled, for the most part. If you would like to
see them, we would love it if you would become a fan on Facebook!
Click here to go to our fan page!
You will see our Spring 2010 album there.
We also created a page for *Rhoson
Bon Bon today! Click
here to see!
Exciting news coming soon -- stay tuned! ;-)
January 31, 2010
Thank you to all of the mare
owners who took advantage of our early booking special to
*Wedderlie Mardi Gras! We appreciate your business, and look
forward to working with you this breeding season!
We are delighted to introduce
a new face here -- imported Section B mare *Rhoson Bon Bon!
We've admired Bon Bon on the west coast show scene for the past
few years, and we are delighted to have her join our group of
very special imported mares.

Bon Bon is by the fabulous stallion, Rhoson Shem,
who was Supreme Champion at the Royal Welsh in 2006, and has
gone on to place well at the Horse of the Year Show under saddle
more recently. Bon Bon's dam is a daughter of the renowned
Downland Rembrandt.
Standing at 13.1 1/2
hands, Bon Bon herself is a halter and performance champion. She
will now enter our broodmare band and will be bred to *Wedderlie
Mardi Gras in 2010 for a 2011 foal. She is currently in foal to
Goldhills Most Wanted, and that foal will be for sale.
Bon Bon is extremely typey, with a gorgeous
head, HUGE dark eyes, tiny ears, tons of body and strong
hindquarters. We've long wished to pair her with Mardi, so we
are very excited about her as an addition here at Family
Partners Welsh Ponies! Thank you to Goldhills Welsh!
January 24, 2010
It's a dreary and rainy day here
in Oregon, but I really can't complain too much -- we've had
some very mild weather here lately, with the exception of a week
of well below freezing temperatures in December. Since then, the
weather has been varying from about what we expect for this time
of year to milder than normal, with even some sunny days!
The beginning of our new year was
marred by our beautiful newly imported mare, *Mynach Manilla,
becoming very ill. She spent three weeks being treated at our
university vet hospital and finally came home this past
Wednesday. She received terrific care at the University of
Oregon and seems to be doing well at home. She is the absolutely
sweetest pony, and has been an absolute pleasure to care for. We
are hopeful that she will make a full recovery.
