In 1990 when we moved to our beautiful century old farm in Southern Oregon, we became interested in Section D Welsh Cobs. As we began doing research on this "undiscovered" section of the breed, we became fascinated by the cob's incredible movement and substance. After more research we concluded that we wanted ponies descended from *Okeden Sensation and *Turkdean Sword Dance.
Our cobs are descended from these beautiful stallions...

And
so we began a nationwide search for ponies carrying the blood of those
beautiful stallions. That search culminated in the purchase of Abbys'
Holiday, (*Okeden Sensation x Tlws Gwerthfawr y Penryn by *Turkdean
Sword Dance), an absolutely breathtaking bay mare with a foal at her side,
Bristol
Ruby (by imported dressage champion *Kentchurch Chime), and Nocturne's
Crown Sensation AKA "Maggie", (*Sydenham Nocturne x Gordon's Lady
Ann by *Okeden Sensation), a beautiful black mare with a blaze, four socks
and a very unique personality. Because we were so pleased with Ruby, before
leaving Texas, we had Abby bred back to *Kentchurch Chime.

The
resulting foal from Abby and *Kentchurch Chime was born on our ranch in
the spring of 1994. He was a smashing colt, brilliant chestnut with flaxen
mane and tail, a blaze and two hind socks. Lonetree's
Romeo is every bit as wonderful as we hoped he would be. We have
used him on both Nocturne's Crown Sensation and on our partbred mares.
The results have been spectacular. Each of the foals sired by Romeo have
been wonderful, and he has passed on his breathtaking movement to all of
them.
In 1998 we leased the imported Champion Section D Welsh Cob stallion, *Okeden Welsh Flyer.

| Section
D Welsh Cobs are the largest of the four sections of Welsh ponies. They
are a minimum of 13.2 hands, and can reach heights of up to 16 hands. Ours
however, are between 14.2 and 15 hands. They are of top quality, have beautiful,
correct conformation, spectacular movement, and they are 100% Cob, with
bloodlines of the greatest cobs ever, and dispositions that will steal
your heart!
Welsh Cobs are especially popular as mounts for dressage, 3-day eventing and carriage driving...not to mention they make wonderful friends! |
