'Tis the season for being very
busy -- and we have been! Lots going on here as we launch into
winter, with foaling season just around the corner, beginning in
March!
It is also the season for year end
awards, and we have lots of news to share!!!
*Mynach Master Class is
National Champion for 2 and under Section B Welsh Pony colts. We are thrilled!
He is just a yearling, and this was just supposed to be his "practice year", but it was
such a great show year! He finished the year with just under 400
WPCSA points! Woooo!!

*Mynach Master Class at the last show of the season in
November.
The get of Section B Welsh
stallion
*Wedderlie Mardi Gras had
an enormously successful season, which meant that Mardi is now a
Sire Award of Excellence recipient! The Sire AOE is awarded to
stallions who have purebred offspring who have won at least
15,000 WPCSA points -- this is quite a feat! Mardi's purebred
progeny have won 16,547 points as of the close of the 2011 show
season! We are so proud of his offspring!

*Wedderlie Mardi Gras LOM/AOE
We have also received news from
the WPCSA that Mardi Gras is the 2011 Sire of the Year!!!!
This is big news, as this means his offspring accumulated more
points than other other Welsh stallion's offspring at WPCSA
shows during 2011! A big thank you to the owners who showed
Mardi Gras babies during 2011! We appreciate everyone's hard
work that went towards Mardi's award!
There are also 4 new lifetime award
recipients among Mardi's get:
Goldhills Master Bronze, a 4
year old Section B stallion, owned by Carrie MacWhorter
completed his individual Award of Excellence, which is won by
accumulating 4000 points at WPCSA shows. "Bronze" is not only
extremely talented, but also extremely versatile, and has also
brought home numerous National Championships (see below) as
well!

Homebred
Clanfair Signature (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM/AOE x
*Holyoake Sucura) a 3 year old
Section B stallion, owned by Megan Burtness, completed his
individual Legion of Merit in 2011, making him the youngest ever
to complete an LOM (beating out the previous two "youngest evers",
both by Mardi Gras, Goldhills Makebelieve Princess and Goldhills
Master Bronze). Signature made it look easy with prolific wins
in hand, and then coming out under saddle, winning right out of
the box. Mid season he was started in harness and immediately
began sweeping divisions and racking up championships. He is
gorgeous both under saddle and in harness!!

Clanfair Martina (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM/AOE x
*Holyoake Sonique), owned by us
here at Family Partners, age 5, mostly took the year off to have
a foal, Clanfair
Mirabeau. Once her foal was weaned, however, Martina
came to the Summer OWPS show and completed the last points
needed for her Legion of Merit! She had not been ridden or
driven in almost a year, but hit the show ring and racked up
points! We are so proud of her! Our thanks to Megan Burtness who
showed her in performance as a 3 and 4 year old for us!

Clanfair All About Me (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM/AOEE x
*Holyoake Anastasia LOM), age
5, now in Florida, was part of our show team at the beginning of
the show season until she completed the points for her Legion of
Merit. We miss MeMe very, very much, but she has a wonderful new
home who loves her.

We also are very proud of the end
of year accomplishments of so many Mardi Gras children!

September 30, 2011
It's been a busy summer filled
with ponies, farm work -- and two trips to Wales! My mom and I
went over at the beginning of August to visit the International
Show, which was held at the Royal Welsh show grounds. Lots of
fun and we saw a lot of beautiful ponies and took tons of
pictures. It was wonderful to get out and see ponies we never
had seen before. We also had the opportunity to visit the Eyarth
Stud, and completely fell in love with Royal Welsh Supreme
Champion Rhoson Shem, who is visiting there for two seasons to
cover mares. Shem is the sire of our beloved
*Rhoson Bon Bon.
He was even better than we had anticipated. A super, super pony.
Rhoson Shem:

Also at the Eyarth Stud, we saw
the beautiful mare, Hunter's Carmen Rose, who we had seen there
as a 3 year old in 2004. I had loved her then, and she only has
gotten more beautiful in the ensuing years. "Billie", as she is
known, was consigned to the Fayre Oaks Sale, which is the
largest sale for Sections A and B in the world. Everyone in our
visiting party agreed that they would love to own her, but every
one of us also assumed she would go for quite a lot more than
any of us would be able to afford. Being a daughter of the great
Eyarth Rio (out of Eyarth Zsa Zsa) and out of an Eyarth
Celebration daughter, her pedigree is about as stunning as they
come. Not to mention, she is in foal to Shem! Ahhhhh.....
Well, fast forward 5 weeks or so,
and we made an spur of the moment decision to head over to Wales
again, this time to visit at the Fayre Oaks Sale. I didn't
actually have any true plan to buy a pony....................
but......... I did!!!
Meet "Billie" -- Hunter's Carmen Rose:

We are beside ourselves with
excitement over her addition to our breeding program! She is the
loveliest, typiest mare, a super mover, very kind and has had
some very beautiful foals. We eagerly await her arrival this
winter!
Click here to see her amazing pedigree.
Also "in the news", our beautiful
yearling colt, *Mynach
Master Class, has been having an incredibly
successful show season! We've been delighted over and over again
by him. Since he is just a yearling, we planned on the 2011
season being his "practice year", but he has made it into way more
than that!
At the Pacific
Coast Classic and Western Nationals:
First place in his class under both judges, Junior Champion
under both judges, Overall Youngstock Champion under both
judges, reserve Grand Champion and reserve Supreme Champion!
And just today at the Central
Nationals at the Tulsa State Fair:
First place in his class under both judges,
Junior Champion under both judges, reserve Grand
Champion and reserve Supreme Champion!
Our thanks to Megan Burtness of Bridlewood Welsh for showing
him for us in Tulsa!

We are incredibly pleased with how
he is maturing. Looking forward to him growing up -- it's hard
to wait patiently! I think he is going to be a stunning 2 year
old!
We've just weaned
the last two of the 2011 foals, and we are heading into
"fall/winter mode" around the farm. Getting ready for the rain
that will assuredly come eventually. The leaves are starting to
turn and every morning I think the walnut orchard has a few more
yellow tinted leaves. I do enjoy this time of year, though not
the part where the ponies grow hair! But it does get us ever
closer to foaling season 2012, which we EAGERLY await! Please
check out our
upcoming foals and
contact us to be placed on our
waiting list!
July 24, 2011
We've been blessed
with gloriously cool weather so far this summer! Though today it
is a bit hot, we've even had days of clouds and rain. It has
been blissful!
In the
meantime, we've been very busy with ponies, haying, foaling,
breeding season, shows, etc! It's been hard to find the time to
sit down and update the web site!
Our most recent exciting news is
that we have just imported a spectacular mare, which we had
admired for several years. Her name is
*Hoekhorst Sweet Symphony, and
she is a many time Supreme Champion and a UK medal winner. Our
thanks to Wendy Hendry, who reluctantly parted with her, but
took very good care of her all winter. She has been covered by a
stallion we've had our eye on for some time, Millcroft Manchero,
and we are really excited about this upcoming foal!
Symphony is currently in
quarantine, fairly close to home, at Farwood Farm, where she is
being well looked after by Penny. We've been down to visit her
twice, and she is soooooooo sweet! A total pet, absolutely
gorgeous, and we are looking forward to bringing her home!
You can see photos and pedigree by
clicking here.

Supreme Champion *Hoekhorst Sweet Symphony
We've also finished up our foaling
for 2011, and are so pleased with our
foal crop. We had 4 colts and 2
fillies. We have just one foal still available from the 2011
crop, a gorgeous perlino colt by Royal Welsh winner *Mynach
Mystical, and out of our homebred Supreme Champion mare
Clanfair Martina,
who is just about to finish her Legion of Merit!
Clanfair Mirabeau
is a spectacular perlino colt, and is definitely stallion
material! Because of his rare perlino color, he will only
produce palomino or buckskin foals.

Clanfair Mirabeau
(*Mynach Mystical x Clanfair Martina)
Our new imported Section B colt,
who arrived this past December has made his show debut and was
Junior Champion and Reserve, as well as Reserve Grand Champion
at his first show! We absolutely love him (he has the absolute
sweetest temperament EVER!) and think he is an ideal example of
a quality Section B. He is a full brother to multi Royal Welsh
Champion Mynach Miss Prim, and a full brother to our own *Mynach
Miss Daisy. We are extremely excited about his future, both in
the show ring and as a sire.
Master Class.

*Mynach Master Class
(Eyarth Beau Geste x Mynach Mimosa)
In other news,
Clanfair All About Me (*Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM x
*Holyoake Anastasia LOM) has
completed the points for her individual Legion of Merit! We are
so proud of her! She showed in hand, in Carriage Driving,
Pleasure Driving and in youth English and Western Pleasure. A
true all around pony! We are very proud of her accomplishments.
She has now been sold to a 5 star home in Florida, and we offer
our congratulations to her new owner. We will definitely miss
her!!!!!!!!

Clanfair All About Me LOM
(*Wedderlie Mardi Gras LOM x *Holyoake Anastasia LOM)
Taking MeMe's place on our show
team is our new 2011 filly,
Clanfair Catrin. "Kitty" is by
*Wedderlie Mardi Gras LOM and out of Supreme Champion *Waxwing
Curtain Call and we could not be more excited about this
gorgeous filly. We think she has a very exciting future ahead of
her in the show ring!

March 2, 2011
I've just returned from the Welsh
Pony & Cob Society of America's Annual General Meeting, which
was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico this year. I had an
unventful trip down and back, and came home on cloud 9!
You see, each year the WPCSA
tabulates points towards the Sire Ratings. The results of this
are kept secret until the AGM awards banquet, which took place
last Saturday night. This year I was thrilled to see that our *Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM topped the Section B sire ratings --
but it came as a complete surprise to me to find out that Mardi
won the 2010 SIRE OF THE YEAR award! I was definitely in
shock and so excited!!!
To top it off, on my way home Monday morning, my favorite mare,
*Holyoake Sonique,
had her foal by Mardi Gras -- an absolutely gorgeous palomino
colt, who is the very image of his Supreme Champion full sister,
Clanfair Martina.
He is a DOLL and we are having so much fun playing with him!
Here are some photos of him
yesterday, on his first turnout!

We now await the birth of our next
foal from *Waxwing
Garland, and by
*Eyarth Eragon, due mid-April.
*Holyoake Fantasia,
in foal to *Wedderlie
Mardi Gras LOM, is due shortly after Garland. We
eagerly await both of these upcoming foals!

Where has the time gone since my
last update?! The new ponies arrived at 1 am on December 2nd. It
was so great to finally get them home! The hauler broke down on
the way, and they spent 2 weeks getting between quarantine in
Canada and home to the farm. Needless to say, it was a bit
stressful and they were a bit worse for wear by the time they
finally arrived.
They
have settled in well, however, and we are so happy with them.
Show season is looming, and the
first of the show ponies are "installed" in the barn. They are
already enjoying the pampering. It's been really hard to choose
who all we are going to show this year, as I'd like to show way
more than we actually have trailer space for! Decisions,
decisions.
Speaking of
decisions, we have been working on our sales list plans and may
be offering a couple of truly outstanding colts/stallions for
sale, so if you are in the market, please drop me an
e-mail. ;-)
